Disneyland Paris succeeded all of our expectations as we got to experience the ‘Disney magic’ combined with nail-biting rides. Highlights were the Disney Parade, Tower of Terror and Space Mountain. We will definitely be going back for more.
Paris itself did not disappoint. We started at the world-famous Eiffel tower which stands 324 m (1,063 ft) tall. The walk to the first level is over 300 steps, as is the walk from the first to the second level. The third and highest level is accessible only by lift and is not for the faint-hearted. The views from the top are simply spectacular.
We then enjoyed a boat cruise on the River Seine and got to see many famous buildings including the Louvre and Notre Dame. We spent the afternoon at on the hill on Montmartre which is known for the white- domed Basilica of the Sacré Coeur. There we enjoyed watching street artists and entertainers. In the evening, we climbed the Arc de Triomphe which was built to honour those who fought for France, particularly in the Napoleonic Wars. The arch is surrounded by a very large and busy roundabout on which no vehicles are insured! The French driving style is definitely very entertaining.
Many thanks to Mrs Lowe, Mrs Prout, Mr Prout, Mr Pritchard and Mr Thomas who all made this visit possible.
